Areas of interest to members are in these core fields: Health, Nutrition, Education, Energy, Environment, Fitness, Government, Social Responsibility, Volunteering.

Through January 16, 2011 Create your own PSA!
Become a Star & Help "16 Things" Go Viral!
Meet and shoot Public Service Announcements (PSAs) in support of the various programs in "16 Things Kids Can Do"
Thank you for your interest in participating in the creation of a series of PSAs (taped messages) for the not-for-profit organization: 16 Things Kids Can Do, Inc. The purpose of the PSAs is to generate awareness and support "16 Things Programs" such as We Speak Now - our drive to have the President Obama declare the Month of August as National Kid's Awareness, Activities and Acknowledgment Month.
On Jan. 16th starting at 5:00 p.m., we are launching a huge Viral PSA campaign on the Internet to kick-off our programs! So have your PSA ready to go; or Bring your Smart Phone to one of our Meet up spaces and tape one on the spot!
Ways To Participate (At various Meet-Ups and at January 16th Meetups)
(1) Choose the "16 Things" programs you want to support. You can tape a separate PSA for each! Do it on your own or form a group: Enlist friends, family, classmates, coworkers, associates or people that just want to get "involved!"
These are several of the Topics you can use for your PSA:
16 Things Volunteers wanted! Around the country, every age, every background
"We Speak Now" Campaign to have the President issue a Proclamation declaring August as National Kid's Awareness, Activities & Acknowledgment month
Start or Support a Better Communication & Literacy Workshop
Start a "16 Things" Volunteer Club in your community; at your school, library, organization or business.
Favorite "16 Things" Book Title & Why!
(2) Have Yourself Filmed expressing support for one or more programs. Use your own creativity and expression: Be passionate, cool, matter-of-fact, include others or not. Meet with us or choose your own setting: home, office, schools, church, temple, fast food restaurant, whatever. Shoot it using anything you have available: from a cell phone to a broadcast camera ... it's up to you. Submit your own PSA and you will be posted, seen and voted on! The PSAs with the most votes in different areas will get Celebrity exposure and treatment!
(3) Interview & Tape Other People - Kids, parents, people on the street, at schools, camps, organizations, etc. - and then make your own PSA or submit your footage to us and we'll make it. The more you submit the more your work will be viewed and used. Your goal is to to interview as many people as possible and get their support. You can take pictures, cell phone video, camera video, broadcast video, or even HD video. Anyone (living or pretending to be), Anywhere (almost), Any Time (well, not exactly): Interview family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, businesses, athletes, celebrities, and people on the street, etc. Everyone is encouraged to shoot anyone! Example of What to Say for "We Speak Now" & The Presidential Proclamation Petition Simply tell the person "I'm working with a non-profit organization called '16 Things Kids Can Do' and we are gathering support from people to petition the President of the United States to Proclaim the Month of August, National Kids Awareness, Activities & Acknowledgment Month." You can give them some Program information or show the Flyer you get from our web site: www.16ThingsKidsCanDo.Org Then tape them saying something in support of the program. Creativity allowed.
Hi-Tech Equipment Optional: You can shoot using your Cell Phone or a 3-Chip HD Broadcast Camera. It doesn't matter.
100% Flexible Times & Locations: You can devote 1-hour to this or 10-hours. It's entirely up to you. (although we're hoping it's closer 20!) And where you shoot is also up to you. Shoot with us at a Meetup or choose your own setting: home, office, schools, church, temple, fast food restaurant, whatever.
Post-it Yourself or Sign-Up on our web site for All the Benefits: Go to our web site and sign-up under "Events" Please be sure to complete your on-line contact information if you want full exposure for your footage. Your shoot will then be posted on 16 Things blogs and forums, with you receiving credit.
Add'l TV Projects - Add'l Benefits
Street Reporter on Assignment: Depending on your interests and your work, you may also be sent on assignment to interview politicians, celebrities, athletes, etc. Once you have successfully submitted your Petition logs, you will be considered for work on the following projects:
