NEW YORK URBAN DEBATE LEAGUE
(NYUDL) aims to institutionalize policy debate in NYC schools for grades 5-12. Through empirical observations, anecdotal accounts, qualitative studies and quantitative evaluations, we’ve learned that debate enables urban students to improve academic performance, think critically, resolve conflicts peaceably, envision productive futures, and build healthy self-concepts.

IMPACT COALITION
Since inception, IMPACT has started debate programs at 119 schools in NYC and expanded debate services at 48 other institutions ... impacting over 5,000 students and 300 teachers in the process. www.impactcoalition.org |

CULINARY KIDS ASSOCIATION
Culinary Kids Culinary Arts Initiatives was founded in 2008 by Executive Director Malisa Rivera to assist children and families in low-economic areas to educate and improve lives through eating and good nutritional habits. Their mission statement is to assist and empower the youth in low-economic areas in healthier, more nutritious eating habits which will produce more economically self-sufficient adults. Through their programs, children will not only learn about healthier eating but also about how to become economically sufficient through culinary arts, farming and agriculture. |

YOUNG CHEFS' ACADEMY
Established in April 2003, Young Chefs Academy offers cooking classes to children in a safe environment that encourages discovery and creativity. While learning food preparation skills is the main ingredient at YCA, each class adds a heap of kitchen safety, a scoop of etiquette, a handful of table setting, a pinch of menu planning, and laughter to taste. |
